PBL Workshops for Higher Education

Target Audience: University Faculty

In 1999 our team members had the opportunity to design and implement a series of problem-based learning workshops for the Monterrey Institute of Technology and Higher Education (ITESM).  Based in Monterrey, Mexico, the Institute has 31 campuses in 25 cities.  Our team members provided 10-day workshops to train university faculty on designing, implementing and assessing PBL classroom environments.  Instructors left the workshop with one of four levels of certification; the highest level was usually awarded after successful PBL teaching and a follow up workshop.  Follow up took place in both the U.S. and in Mexico over a three-year period.
